Students will gain the knowledge and skills to sit for the National Healthcare Association Certified Clinical Medical Assistant exam. Instruction includes taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, patient education, and assisting the physician during the exam. Students will also learn medications, wound care, how to perform an ECG, basic phlebotomy, and other lab skills. Topics also include behavioral health, medical law and ethics, and electronic records. There is a focus on administrative duties as well as clinical skills.
